Upgrades to Peekskill High School’s cafeteria, kitchen and entrance plaza are on schedule and the work is expected to be completed when classes resume in September, a district official said.
Carmine Crisci, district director of facilities, told reporters before the Board of Education meeting Thursday, Aug. 2, that the contractors were pushing to finish the projects during the tight summer time frame. The board awarded the contracts June 19.
The projects are among those funded by the district’s $3.16 million bond issue approved by voters in May 2011.
In another high school matter, the board formally confirmed the appointment of Frederick W. Hutchinson as principal, effective July 1, at an annual salary of $140,000. Hutchinson, whose appointment was announced in late June, replaces Sherrill Murray-Lazarus, who was principal for two years. Her resignation was effective June 30.
