Licopoli to Return as Peekskill's Interim Superintendent

In a unanimous vote earlier this week, the Peekskill Board of Education appointed Dr. Lorenzo Licopoli as the district's interim superintendent of schools.

Licopoli is replacing outgoing Superintendent James Willis, who announced last month he was stepping down.

The interim position will run for one year, beginning July 13, the district said in a press release. It did not note Licopoli's compensation.

“It is really a joy for me to be returning to the Peekskill School District,” Licopoli—who served the district in the same position from January to July of 2011—said in a statement.

For the last two years, he's been the interim superintendent at Arlington Central School District.

“I’m looking forward to coming back in what has been a tough time for this district," he said, "and turning a new page for Peekskill in collaboration with the board of education, administration, faculty, staff and parents and students."
