Peekskill Schools Reinstate Human Resources Post

Mary Sculnick is appointed director by 4-3 vote of the Board of Education.

By a 4-3 vote the Peekskill Board of Education has reinstated the position of director of human resources and appointed an Ossining educator to fill it.

Mary Sculnick was appointed to the position Tuesday night at an annual salary of $140,000, effective April 16, at the recommendation of Superintendent of Schools James Willis. She has been executive assistant for human resources in the Ossining Union Free School District.

The board had abolished the job as part of a July 1, 2011, administrative reorganization and delegated the work to remaining staff.

Board member Lisbeth Bock acknowledged the tough economic climate but said, “We need this position” as she voted to reinstate it and appoint Sculnick. She was joined by board Vice President Fran Feuerman, Tuesday McDonald and Michael Simpkins. Voting against the reinstatement and Sculnick’s appointment were board President Joseph Urbanowicz, Marcela Bobe and Douglas Glickert.

In other personnel actions Tuesday the board filled teaching, coaching, monitoring and security aide positions. For the entire lists of appointments please click here and here.
