Interim Hendrick Hudson schools Superintendent Brian Monahan announced that the district will make up its snow days without using any vacation days from spring break, which is scheduled from March 25-29.
The district has used two more snow days than what was planned in the calendar this year. Monahan said the district had initially planned to make up those days during spring break.
"A lot of parents had already made plans for spring break," Monahan said.
Below is a copy of the email Monahan sent to parents Wednesday.
In my 40 years in education, I don’t remember a school year with more disruption from the weather. I know many of you are wondering how recent snow days affect the calendar. Assuming that we do not have any more cancellations, here is the status of things.
Schools will be closed from Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29. Schools will be open on Monday, April 1.
This schedule preserves the week-long spring break about which many of you were concerned for personal and religious reasons. We have been able to accomplish that by realigning staff development time. I am grateful to Dr. Alice Gottlieb and the leadership of our Teachers Association for their help in working through this issue. Hopefully, we will not have any snow over the next few weeks and there will be no further changes.
Best wishes for the upcoming holidays. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
