Although Blue mountain Middle School and Furnace Woods Elementary School in the Hendrick Hudson School Distric each during Hurricane Irene on Sunday, the water caused no damage to the schools.
“Only the fields flooded, not the buildings,” said school Public Relations Director Rick McCormack.
The schools have been without power all week and are hoping to be back up and running by Thursday night, which is when Con Edison estimates that area of town will have power again.
Meanwhile, the district is considering opening the buildings up this Saturday so teachers can prepare their classrooms for the first day of school on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
