An Art Show, a Book Signing and a Cheerleading Competition

Five things you should know for today, Feb. 2.

1.) Once Upon A Time Preschool Open House
Once Upon A Time Preschool & Day Care,  located on 47 Peekskill Hollow Rd. in Putnam Valley is hosting an open house today at 10 a.m. In order to thank some of community members, the daycare is running the following promos.

  • one month free with enrollment
  • A 10 percent discount for educators and emergency service workers.
Once Upon a Time is licensed to care of children 6 weeks through 12 years old.

2.) Hen Hud Cheerleaders Compete in Empire Championships Saturday
The Hendrick Hudson High School cheerleading team is scheduled to compete at The Empire Championships in Utica, NY today. The competition takes place 4 p.m. at Herkimer High School.

3.) Peekskill Interact Club Competes in MSG Varsity's Charity Champions Contest
Peekskill High School’s Interact Club is participating in Cablevision/MSG Varsity's Charity Champions contest at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen today at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. Cablevision will present a $500 check to the club for its projects to help the Salvation Army and another $1,000 check to the Salvation Army. Following the check presentation, club members will serve lunch at the Salvation Army from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The club is also competing to win an additional $5,000 for the Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.

4.) Harbor at Charles Point Hosts Book Signing & After Party Sunday
Verplanck resident Peggy S Imm-Anesi is having a signing and after party   at the Harbor At Charles Point on Feb. 2 for her book "Rainbows, Butterflies & One Last Hug: A Mother’s Spiritual Journey Losing Two Children to Cystic Fibrosis." The events is noon until midnight and there will be drink and food specials all day. The band starts at 9 p.m.  

5.) Coulter D. Young Art Show Opens at the Beale Street Barbershop
Coulter D. Young and Paul JM are having an opening reception for their art show tonight at the Beale Street Barbershop, located at 907 South St. in Peekskill. The opening starts at 6 p.m. and live music will be provided by I'll Be John Brown, who will perform two sets at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Beer will be provided by Captain Lawrence and there will be a wine tasting provided by Dylan's Wine Cellar.
