No More Bushes!

Intervention in Hell

When Barbara Bush, a.k.a. Silver Fox, told a reporter last week that a Bush Dynasty in American politics was not a desirable possibility... "we've had enough Bushes!" It was hilariously prophetic and probably sage advice from a knowing mother. Who's going to argue with Mama Bush? But apparently, Republican Senators were not listening, certainly not to the subtext.

Republicans, several leading elephants, some members of the Armed Services Committee, unanimously called for an American intervention in Syria backing, who? Factions so loose and varied that the United States would, effectively, be supporting, with money and arms, groups with ties and full support of radical Islamists, including Al Qaeda. All to topple the Assad government, one that cannot stand for very long anyway in the 21st Century-Middle East. Sounds like the Bush administration all over again. Why? Rummy, W., and Dick Cheney got us imbroiled in Iraq for the same reasons the Rebuplicans were peddling on the Sunday Talk shows: we need to impress(scare) Iran. Again, I ask why? What has it done for us in the past 30 years? since the Shah left on an airplane in 1979 for Contadora? At least he had bloodthirsty revolutionaries hot on his trail. Why on earth are we so afraid of saving-face in Persia?

Middle Eastern terrorists, radical Islamists, have achieved their goal of forcing American senators to consider their every move, based on how it will be perceived in Iran, Syria, Egypt, and even Turkey. The U.S. carries a big stick but walks on eggshells. Tiptoes around the Iranians. The Israelis do not want our intervention in Syria. That, in itself, should be a clear sign of wrong-headed thinking and political manuvering. BushThink. RummyThink. It sounds like CIA. Smells like CIA, the Central Incompetence Agency. How have plastic garbage bags full of cash to President Hamid Karzai helped our cause in Afghanistan? How's that one worked out? More corruption and more murder of Americans. How has the Raymond Davis affair worked out for us in Pakistan? Good?

Our failed rotten foreign policy, our covert manipulation, from the "stans' all the way through the Middle East has left a trail of blood and money—American soldiers, journalists, and diplomats—and for what? Kids from countries we've had little or no contact with plant bombs and kill civilians on American city streets. Why? They were 'defending Islam.' From what? From our medling and intervention, that has had no positive effect thus far. As we've seen previously, our armaments will be turned against our military within a few years time.

In Baghdad this week, Sunni insurgents closed down Al Jazeera, a Middle Eastern version of CNN, and other free TV channels. So much for our invasion and occupation of Iraq under the Bush administration. So much for Operation Liberate Iraq, for a free press. So much for The Surge. So much for the wasted lives of young Americans, the shame of Abu Garhib prison and Guantanamo, so much for an $8-billion a-month investment, and "free" elections in Iraq. So much for our influence on The Egyptian Spring where our journalists were stoned and mauled, or the Benghazi uprising where American diplomats were killed and burned out.

And didn't we scare the hell out of Iran?
