The first Cross-Cultural Connection Pro-Am Ensemble International Exchange Program will take place in July, 2012. A group of conservatory students from Finland who attended my Jazz Ensemble Workshops in March, 2012 will come to New York, July 1-11, 2012 and be a part of our performance ensemble. We have workshops, master classes, jam sessions and three performances on the agenda.
Two performances are scheduled in Peekskill, N.Y. - Bean Runner July 7 and the HVCCA Museum July 8, a collaboration with modern dance instructor Andrea Elam and student dancers. A final concert performance, July 10 at the John Burkes Gillespie Auditorium at the Bahai Center, University Ave. on 11th Street in New York City.
Participants from Finland; Jyri Ekholm, Drums; Salla Jarvinen, Trumpet and Vocal; Ville Viertoli, Guitar; Samu Repo, Bass; and Rauli Viltala, Instructor/Guitarist will attend. American student participants; Sean McQuaid, Ossining, Trumpet; John Winton, Lakeland, Saxophone; Satish Robertson, Harlem, Trumpet.
Clinicians include; Ray Blue, Saxophone, Composer and Ensemble Director; Vince Corozine, Arranger; David Gibson, Drums/Percussion; Tony Jefferson, Drums/Vocal, Radam Schwartz, Organ/Piano; Waldron Ricks, Trumpet and Marvin Horn, Guitar.
