The Town of Cortlandt recently announced several employment opportunities. Here are the descriptions, as provided by local officials in a press release:

 

Cleaner - Department of Environmental Services

  • Part-time
  • Town of Cortlandt seeks to hire two part-time cleaners (up to 20 hours per week for each position) for the cleaning of town hall and other buildings. Must be reliable and thorough. $18.05 per hour with no benefits. The successful candidate will perform routine manual work cleaning and caring for public buildings(s), parking lots, and adjacent yards and sidewalks. Computer intern - Department of Environmental Services 
  • Temporary 
  • This is a seasonal, four-month position. Data checking. Ability to read civil drawings and spot necessary corrections. Position pays $11 per hour with no benefits.

Cortlandt Community Coalition Coordinator — Drug-Free Communities Support Program
  • Part-time
  • 15 hours per week - flexibility req.
  • The coalition coordinator is responsible for the management of program goals, objectives and activities and associated projects, as well as budget management, grant development, submission of state and national reporting, attendance at monthly meetings and is willing to travel one to two times a year. A bachelor’s degree and five years professional experience in management and program development is required.  Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Fax resume to C. Laborer - Department of Environmental Services

  • Seasonal employment
  • The Town of Cortlandt Department of Environmental Services is hiring temporary laborers. These assignments are temporary (four months) positions starting immediately. You must be physically able to perform manual labor tasks requiring heavy lifting (up to 75 pounds) and standing for long periods of time. Work assignments will be primarily outdoors regardless of weather conditions. You must be able to pass a physical agility test and have a valid New York State driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract. Senior Automotive Mechanic - Department of Environemtal Services

  • Full-time
  • Responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled mechanical repair, diagnostic, and maintenance work on all types of municipal automotive equipment, including heavy equipment vehicles e.g. tractor trailers, front end loaders, bulldozers, steam rollers, sweepers, mechanical repairs on disabled equipment in the field, etc. In this position, the employee must be available for duty at all times. The successful candidate must possess five years of experience where the primary function of the position was the maintenance and repair work on automotive and/or heavy motor equipment. Diesel repair, welding experience a plus. Must possess a valid CDL driver license upon permanent appointment. Salary commensurate with experience.
