Schumer, Lowey and Astorino Tour Sound Shore Damage Today

Schumer: Westchester Needs the Feds to Act Quickly So Businesses and Residents Can Get Back on Their Feet

A Press release from U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer's office:

Today, Fri., Nov. 2 at 2:30 p.m. U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer will tour numerous Sound Shore Communities in Westchester County to get a firsthand look at the damage and devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. He will be joined by County Executive Rob Astorino and Congresswoman Lowey to be briefed on local needs as he tours the area. They are expected to start at Playland in Rye, and also to visit Port Chester and Mamaroneck.

His visit to Westchester County will come the day after Senators Schumer and Gillibrand petitioned the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to approve New York State’s request and issue a major disaster declaration that includes both assistance for individuals and public entities for Westchester and Rockland Counties, in light of the severe flooding, damage to business, homes and municipal facilities, and significant and continuing threats to life and safety in the region.
