Despite the fact that we had a virtually snow-free winter, the area's streets have still taken a beating over the winter and with spring comes pothole season.
Potholes appear when the pavement cracks, moisture builds up in the crack and then freezes and thaws. It's a problem that the town really can't avoid.
Potholes can be a year-long problem but are especially noticable in the spring after streets are plowed and sanded over the winter. While the areas for the most part escaped severe winter weather, there still are sections of roads that look like they've been chewed up and are in need of repair.
Do you have bad potholes in your neighborhood? Post the locations here and if you can, snap a picture and upload it here too (but be safe while taking pictures!). Public Works can't fix what they aren't aware of, so a running list of potholes could help them locate problem spots.
Peekskill's Director of Public Works Howard Wessells said the best way to report potholes in the city is to call City Hall using 311 or emailing him at hwessells@cityofpeekskill.com.
And Happy Spring!
