Port Chester Salutes Local Musician, Cancer Survivor

Charlie Scopoletti has fundraising concert on March 7 at The Capitol Theatre.

The Port Chester village Board of Trustees has proclaimed March 7 "Charlie Scopoletti Day" in honor the Port Chester native, musician and two-time cancer survivor who has an upcoming fundraising concert at The Capitol Theatre.

Scopoletti, 37, was saluted during Monday night's meeting at the Port Chester Village Court. The proclamation presented to Scopoletti by Mayor Dennis Pilla honors him with his own day, which is the day of his  “Truth Concert and Charity Event.”

Scopoletti said he will fulfill a life dream by playing at Port Chester’s Capitol Theater. The evening will raise money for programs close to Scopoletti’s heart – the Imerman Angels, which connects cancer survivors with patients, and the Natalia Crespo Eirin Foundation, formed and named in memory of Scopoletti’s childhood friend who died of brain cancer at a young age. The Foundation works to shape grant-making programs to projects related to brain cancer awareness and research, and to support families and individuals struggling with brain cancer.

In recent years, Scopoletti has worked with award winning producers and music directors to create soulful and soothing music, and with organizations that help cancer patients manage and cope with their conditions. He released his latest album, “Truth,” in January 2012.
