John E. Fischer II, a Peekskill sanitation worker who suffered head injuries when he fell from a garbage truck April 13, died Monday at Westchester Medical Center.
The Peekskill Common Council observed a moment of silence for Fischer at the start of its meeting Monday night and offered condolences to his family and friends. Fischer, who turned 40 last week, would have marked his 10-year anniversary as a city employee in December 2012.
The city is planning a safety review in the wake of the “sad accident,” Mayor Mary Foster told The Journal News in a story published today.
Fischer was injured when he fell from the truck shortly after 10 a.m. April 13 at Main and North Division streets.
