Several hundred anti-nuclear protesters from many different groups gathered in front of the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Buchanan to commemorate the 1 year anniversary of the nuclear disaster in Fukushima, Japan caused by an earthquake and resulting tsunami.
The group gathered in a parking area across from the plant's main entrance to voice their opposition to nuclear power as an energy source, while pausing to remember those who lost their lives one year ago today with a moment of silence, speeches, and dramatic plays.

One year ago on March 11, an earthquake and tsunami the Fukushima Daiichi and Daini nuclear power plants in northeast Japan and caused a nuclear meltdown and release of radiation.
