Yorktown Man, Charged with DWI, Had Twice the Legal Alcohol Limit

A 36-year-old Yorktown man is due in court later this month to answer charges of drunken driving, police said.

On Nov. 24, police officer Rapisarda was assigned to a traffic post detouring traffic from Crompond Road onto Rt. 132 when he observed a 1999 Jeep drive past the road closure and into oncoming traffic.

The man's vehicle was stopped and investigation at the scene revealed he was driving while intoxicated. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.

Police said the Yorktown resident drove with a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content more than 0.18%, both misdemeanors; along with numerous traffic infractions.

He was released to a family member and scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Town Court on Dec. 19.
