Two Handguns Stolen in Rockland Home Burglary

Britta Lane home burglarized on Wednesday and two handguns, pistol permits, cash, jewelry taken.

A home on Britta Lane in New City was burglarized and ranscaked on Wednesday, Clarkstown Police said.

Two handguns, a .45 cailber Colt and .22 caliber Iver Johnson, were stolen along with Rockland and Orange County pistol permits. Police report two safes on the upper level of the home were pried open and a third safe was missing from the basement.

An undetermined amount of cash, jewelry and U.S. Savings Bonds were also taken. The homeowner reported the burglary to police at about 9:45 p.m. Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni said she did not know if the home had been included in an online map of Rockland County licensed pistol permit holders.

Earlier this week, a burglar attempted to pry open a gun locker inside a White Plains home listed on the controversial gun permit map, police said.

The Clarkstown Police Department Detective Bureau is investigating and asks anyone with information to contact the Clarkstown Police Department at 845-639-5800 or the TIPS line at 877-639-6233.

We should all concern ourselves in such ways but the question will be more will it work any of the times. BTW they already have to amend the NY law, oops, on duty Police Officers can no longer carry their guns. They are all breaking the law. Seems that the brains that be in the statehouse forgot to exempt the Police whose magazines all carry 14 rounds. Under the law those magazines are now illegal, 7 is the limit. They say they are actually going to read the law they passed soon and fix such things. I will leave the subject and allow you the last word reminding us all of a well know bumper sticker. If guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns. Truer words never spoken. Be safe....

Incredible! Well, I will leave you with a quote i tell my kids. "People that have trust issues only need to look in the mirror. There they will meet the ONE person that will betray them the most." nice talking to you !

Franny, I am a retired police officer from NYC and one of the many permit holders published by the journal news. I have no fear of my gun being stolen since I carry it with me always. I have one question for you though. If you were in a McDonalds, Wendy's or any other confined place with your kid's and a crazy walked through the door with a gun or knife in his hand would you rather have someone like me there or someone else like you ? Just asking.

Dear PO, Sadly they would rather have you there but then would probably sue you for something, at least blame you for something. I too being retired LEO and also appearing on JN list would choose to let Franny deal with being threatened unless I was directly threatened myself. I know a horrible statement but true none the less. When on the job I had taken an oath and also had legal requirements concerning crimes in my presence as you did. Retired that no longer applies. So if possible I would RETREAT leaving her to her fate while I called 911 and sincerely hoped that a unit would be able to get there in time. The liberal whining, naive viewpoints, lawsuits and complaints made me what I am today. Someone more than able to defend myself and more than willing to allow others to do the same for themselves.

George, How right you are. People like Franny whine about guns but the Police and permit holders who obtained there guns legally will be the one's who she can run to if something bad was about to happen. Letting her and her liberal friends fend for themselves would serve her right but you know as well as I that we would intervene in a life and death situation. That oath we took is hard to forget.
