Troopers: Montrose Man Stole Cash, iPhone from Mother

A 30-year-old Montrose man is facing a misdemeanor charge of petty larceny in connection with a theft his mother reported to police, officials say.

Police responded to the woman's residence Sept. 8, according to a statement released last week. Her iPhone and $445 in cash had been stolen from her purse, and the only person in her home at the time the theft took place was her son, she reportedly told officials.

State troopers from the Cortlandt barracks located the defendant at about 3:45 p.m. Sept. 12. They arrested him on the misdemeanor charge and released him pending an appearance in Cortlandt Justice Court.
