Mohegan Lake Man Charged with DWI Under Leandra's Law

A 43-year-old Mohegan Lake man is accused of getting behind the wheel with a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit, and a young passenger in the car, according to officials.

State police from the Somers barracks arrested Gregory S. Hullstrung at about 5:10 p.m. Monday.

"Troopers were requested to assist the Somers Police Department with an erratically operated vehicle on Dayton Drive," authorities said in a statement. "While interviewing the operator, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected emanating from the breath of the operator."

Hullstrung submitted to a breath test. His blood-alcohol level was 0.20-percent, according to police. The legal limit is 0.08. He was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law because he had a passenger who was younger than 16 years old.

Following arraignment, Hullstrung was sent to the Westchester County Jail. He is due back in court Monday.
