Troopers: 4 Out of 5 Local Bars Pass Underage Alcohol Check

Four out of five bars in Montrose and Yorktown Heights did not sell alcohol to a 19-year-old who was part of an underage drinking enforcement detail police conducted Monday, officials say.

State troopers and Yorktown police conducted the detail.

The teen entered Fulgum's Restaurant and Bar on Albany Post Road in Montrose, Finnegan's Grill on Downing Avenue in Yorktown Heights, Kirby's Grill and Bar on Kear Street in Yorktown Heights, Murphy's Restaurant on Kear Street in Yorktown Heights and South Side Grille on Commerce Street in Yorktown Heights.

At each establishment he "attempted to purchase alcohol without being asked to show any identification."

Fulgum's was the only business that sold the alcohol to the teen. The employee who carried out the transaction received an appearance ticket for violating the New York State Alcohol Beverage Control Law.

"The State Police in Cortlandt will continue to work with local police departments to periodically and randomly conduct similar type Underage Drinking Enforcement Operations in various Northern Westchester jurisdictions.," officials said in a statement.
