Traffic Stop on Route 9 Leads to Stolen Car Discovery

Three young people are facing felony charges after they were stopped for speeding on Route 9 in Cortlandt in a vehicle that was reported stolen in Suffolk County the previous day.

State troopers arrested Cassandra Fischer of Dix Hills, Shannon Mclain of Wappingers Falls and Ryan Woods of Bay Shore, all 21, at about 10:40 p.m. Saturday. They were charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Fishcher and Woods are also facing misdemeanor charges of false personation. They provided false names and dates of birth to avoid outstanding warrants for their arrest, police said in a statement.

The three defendants were arraigned in Cortlandt Justice Court. Fischer and Woods were sent to the Westchester County Jail while Mclain was released. They were due back in court Monday morning.
