Teens Charged in Knifepoint Robbery at Peekskill Train Station

Teens from Peekskill and Mahopac have been charged with felony robbery.

The following was provided by the Peekskill Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. 

Peekskill police arrested three teens for the knifepoint robbery of a New York City man who was sitting at on Aug. 3 at 1:40 a.m. 

The suspects, a 16-year-old Mahopac boy and two 15-year-old Peekskill boys, took a bag containing personal belongings from the victim and fled the scene, police said.

Det. Marcos Martinez investigated and located the teens at a residence in Mohegan Lake. The bag and its contents were all recovered and the suspects were taken into custody without incident. The two Peekskill boys were remanded to the Woodfield Cottages in Valhalla and the 16-year-old Mahopac boy, Damon Chanofsky, was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.

Chanofsky and the two 15-year-old Peekskill residents, unidentified by police, were charged with first-degree robbery, a felony.

This is the second alleged knifepoint robbery committed by Peekskill teens in one week. Peekskill police reported that 18-year-old Peekskill boy in connection to two knifepoint robberies in the Washington Street area on July 28.
