Ten store clerks in the Hudson Valley were arrested and charged with allegedly selling alcohol to minors Thursday, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
Reporter Nina Schutzman writes that that a 19-year-old volunteer, supported by state police and State Liquor Authority officials, was sold either beer or wine in 10 of 12 stores in the region. The clerks were charged with misdemeanors for prohibited selling of alcohol.
"Unlike most of the past joint agency operations during which the overwhelming majority of stores complied with the state's Alcohol Beverage Control Law, most of the stores failed the check during the enforcement operation," police told the Poughkeepsie Journal.
Among the towns with stores with clerks who were arrested were Beacon, Cold Spring and Nelsonville.
