Police: Peekskill Driver Had High Blood-Alcohol Content

A 27-year-old Peekskill man is facing a misdemeanor charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated after he got behind the wheel with a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit, authorities say.

Peekskill Police Officer Anthony Nappi stopped the driver on Washington Street at 6:50 a.m. Oct. 19 for a traffic violation, according to a recent press release. When Nappi approached the vehicle he noticed an open container of beer.

The man failed field sobriety tests. A breath test at the police station showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.22 percent, police said. The legal limit is 0.08. He is due Nov. 4 in court.
