Police: Fight Over Woman Leads to Stabbing in Cortlandt Manor

A Mohegan Lake man and his girlfriend were arrested this morning in connection to a stabbing incident in Cortlandt Manor.

Allen Slavin, 37, and Jamie Sniffen, 28, both of Mohegan Lake, are scheduled to appear in Cortlandt town court after Slavin allegedly went to the home of another 45-year-old Cortlandt Manor man and stabbed him earlier today.

Slavin was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and Sniffen was charged with hindering prosecution, a misdemeanor. Some time before 5:21 a.m., state police said Slavin arrived at the victim’s residence to find  his live-in  girlfriend, Sniffen, who was inside. After being let inside the home, Slavin allegedly attacked the victim. The victim’s pitbull attacked Slavin , but Slavin stabbed the victim in the stomach with a kitchen knife and pistol whipped with a pellet gun, according to police.

Slavin, who also received a stab wound to his right  arm during the altercation, allegedly fled the scene and threw the pellet gun into a wooded area, according to police. Sniffen allegedly stayed behind to clean up the bloody crime scene with bleach, a mop and a towel.

Slavin went back to the alleged crime scene, picked up Sniffen and returned home. Police responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call and arrived at the victim’s home at about 5:20 a.m. Police conducted a search for Slavin and Sniffen after interviewing the victim and located them at their residence in Mohegan Lake.

Slavin was transported to the Hudson Valley Hospital Center, where he received several sutures for his arm wound and was released.

The victim was transported to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla and underwent surgery for his stomach wound. He is currently listed in good condition.

Slavin and Sniffen are currently in police custody and are awaiting arraignment.
