A 40-year-old maintenance worker at the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan was arrested this morning as part of a state police investigation into equipment theft at the nuclear power plant.
Police arrested Christopher Albea at his home in Wappingers Falls at 8:40 a.m. and charged him third-degree grand larceny, a felony. Albea, who was employed in Indian Point’s maintenance department, allegedly stole several thousand pounds of copper wire, valued at more than $10,000, from the site and sold it to a Dutchess County scrap yard for several thousand dollars in cash.
Police said this arrest is connected to a similar arrest that was made on 33-year-old Tarrytown resident Theodore Kozelka on Jan. 11.
Albea was arraigned and sent to Westchester County Jail with bail set at $1,000. He is scheduled to appear in Buchanan village court on Jan. 29.
