PHOTOS: Firefighters Battle Cortlandt Blaze

A handful of local fire companies provided mutual aid to the Lake Mohegan Fire Department Wednesday morning as they battled flames that engulfed the house at 2223 Maple Avenue in Cortlandt.

The building is part residence and part school, as it houses The Key Institute for Learning Strategies.

About 70 firefighters responded, as did troopers from the Cortlandt barracks of the New York State Police.

"There's nothing left," Deputy Chief Joe Mayer of the Lake Mohegan Fire Department said.
