Due to the forecast of a winter storm, the City of Peekskill is announcing a Winter Parking Weather Alert that will be in effect from 8 p.m., Dec. 29, until it is officially rescinded.  Accordingly, all OVERNIGHT PARKING (8 p.m. to 8 a.m.) on NONALTERNATE side streets is PROHIBITED.

Overnight Parking will be permitted on the streets where alternate side of the  street parking is permitted.

Motorists are cautioned to follow the posted signs and ensure they are on the proper side of the street to avoid being ticketed (Alternate Side Parking is for a 24-hour period).

Parking between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. is prohibited on any street that does not have winter/alternate side parking signage.

Vehicles found in violation of this ordinance (CC290-24 and 290-35) will be towed at the owner’s expense and fined $50.  Motorists are asked to cooperate to ensure that snow removal operations can be completed without hindrance from illegally parked vehicles.

The Winter Parking Weather Alert will be rescinded once snow removal operations are completed, NOT at the conclusion of the storm.

I know alot of people have limited parking as I do also. But I always make sure that in a storm I am off the street. Some people just dont know how to be a good neighbor!

We have been good neighbors for over 30 years! Have snowblowed many a neighbors driveways and sidewalks over the years. How quickly people forget when you have helped them out. Hate to acknowledge that we really do live in a "ME" society these days. I am hoping that the City does ticket and tow illegaly parked cars. Perhaps if you get ticked and towed you will not do it again!

I think we should all call the Peekskill PD after 8 tonight and report cars illegally parked and request them to be towed....lets see how effective this so called ordinance is...

Seriously??? That would be great. I live in Peekskill Towers and you have to go through an obstacle course on a good day!!!! I'm really surprised that there hasn't been a serious accident yet.. A friend of mine had to add a huge "H E R E w/ arrow" to the STOP sign where Pemart meets Lakeview Drive as most people just SPEED right through it just like they do at the entrance of Husdon View Estates !! Peekskill will make a lot of money if they REALLY ENFORCE THIS!!!!
