Peekskill Police Stop Man for Littering, Find Heroin

A man police stopped for littering on South Broad Street in Peekskill was found to be in possession of heroin, according to officials.

Peekskill police officers Matt Basso and Daniel Labodin stopped the man—who they later discovered is on lifetime parole—at about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, after he tossed a paper bag to the ground.

The defendant is facing a misdemeanor charge of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also ticketed for littering in public.

Officials notified the man's parole officer of the arrest.
