Peekskill Police: Sex Offender Failed to Register

Authorities arrested a 28-year-old Peekskill man on felony charges after he failed to register a change of address, officials say.

Peekskill Police apprehended Steven Cilento, a level-two sex offender, at about 10:10 a.m. July 12.

Here's what authorities said about the arrest:

"Cilento is accused of failing to register his change of address within ten days of relocating as required by law. [Detective John] Bennett has attempted to locate Cilento since May 2013, checking at his registered address and with relatives and friends in the Westchester and Putnam areas. Cliento was also held on unrelated court warrants issued out of the City of Peekskill, Town of Cortlandt and the County of Putnam."

Cilento refused to provide a current address, police said, but they believe he was staying upstate.

Level two indicates "moderate risk of repeat offense." Cilento was convicted in June 2009. The victim was a 15-year-old girl.
