Peekskill Police: Driver Had 11 Suspensions, Passenger Carried Cocaine

A check into a vehicle parked in the lot of a closed business on Main Street in Peekskill yielded two arrests, according to officials.

Officer Khalia Carter made the arrests at about 2:30 a.m. Friday. During her investigation she discovered the operator, a 38-year-old man from Wappingers Falls, had 11 active suspensions on his license.

A 37-year-old Poughkeepsie woman who was a passenger in the vehicle "was found to be in possession of a glass stem, commonly used to smoke crack cocaine, which did contain a small quantity of cocaine," authorities said.

The driver was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and the passenger seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors.

There were two other passengers in the vehicle at the time, according to police. Neither was charged.
