Counselor Killed in Crash; Peekskill High School Cancels Concert

Lenroy Stevens was driving south on Route 9A yesterday afternoon when a truck jumped the guard rail and hit him.

Peekskill school officials have canceled tonight's high school concert as the community mourns the death yesterday of a staffer.

"Tonight’s High School Concert has been postponed due to the sudden loss of one of our guidance counselors, Lenroy Stevens.  On behalf of the High School family, our deep sympathies go out to Mr. Stevens’ friends and family.  The District will keep you apprised of the make-up date for the concert which will be dedicated to Mr. Stevens," Superintendent Dr. Larry Licopoli wrote on the district's websites and social networks.

Stevens was killed when a tractor-trailer northbound on Route 9A in Briarcliff Manor jumped the guard rail at about 4 p.m. and plowed into two cars headed south.

He was in his first year at Peekskill High School in the Guidance Department.

Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
