Peekskill Cops Find 98 Pills During Routine Traffic Stop

A 43-year-old Amawalk man is facing a a felony drug charge after Peekskill police found him to be in possession of 98 pain killer pills, officials said.

Officer Matt Basso made the arrest at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 10), on the 500 block of Washington Street. He stopped Ronald Pufahl, who was driving a 2003 Dodge Durango, for a routine traffic violation, according to a statement from police.

"A check of Mr. Pufahl's license revealed that his driving privileges were currently suspended," authorities said. "While being taken into custody he was found to be in possession of a ziplock bag containing 98 pills of Oxycodone without a prescription."

Officials charged Pufahl with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. He was held pending arraignment.
