Ossining Man Accused of Threatening Police with Air Gun Rifle

Village of Ossining police went to a house on a noise complaint but found themselves faced with a gun.

Det. Jeff Giorgio said police on Nov. 3 around 7 p.m. went to a Broadway residence to ask them to turn the volume of the music down. They instead found that the resident wouldn't open his door to them.

At first, the man refused to come to the door, then he said if he did open the door "he was coming out with a gun."

When he finally opened door, police said he was holding a rifle with a scope on it.

Officers arrested him, only discovering later that the rifle was an air gun that resembles a rifle.

Det. Giorgio said this air gun, even if technically harmless, could have proved just as dangerous. "The end result could have been he could have gotten shot."

Instead, he said, the officers "expressed great discipline" during the arrest and no one was hurt.

Manuel Vallejo, 44, of Broadway in Ossining, was charged with D-felonies:

  • menacing police officer,
  • and possession of a weapon.

Note: An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
