Officials to Release Update on Findings of Fire Investigation Thursday

Last official word from authorities came in late May.

It's been more than a month since the fatal Carmel fire—which claimed the lives of Larchmont police Capt. Thomas Sullivan, his wife and two teenage daughters—and police are preparing to release an update on the results of the investigation.

They're planning to do so during a press conference scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, Carmel Police Chief Mike Johnson in a statement Wednesday morning.

The fire struck at about 2 a.m. May 1 and left a single survivor, Thomas Sullivan, Jr., 20. A has been established for the young man, who escaped uninjured after reportedly hearing his father shouting about the fire.

The , when Johnson said the investigation was ongoing, and results be released only after "careful consideration" of the evidence.

Several news reports are citing the Associated Press with word that authorities do not consider the fire to be "criminal." Patch will be posting the official update from police as soon as possible (following Thursday's press conference).
