Mohegan Lake Man Arrested for Driving Motorcycle on Putnam County Bike Path

Jonathan Zohar, 20, is due in court next month.

The following information was provided by the Carmel Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 20-year-old Mohegan Lake man faces a number of charges after police said he drove his motorcycle on the Putnam County Bike Path, where motorized vehicles are banned.

Jonathan Zohar is due in court next month after he was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, being an unlicensed driver, failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to comply and operating out of class.

Police said officer Neil Brown observed two motorcycles enter the Putnam County Bike Path in the area of Bucks Hollow Road on April 4 at around 1 a.m. He radioed for another patrol car to cut them off near the intersection of Simone Drive.

The motorcyclists saw the approaching patrol car, turned around and fled towards Bucks Hollow Road, police said. Officer Brown was able to stop one of the motorcyclists, who was later identified as Zohar, and filed the above charges.

The defendant was released on his own recognizance and was scheduled to appear in court on May 8.
