The following information was provided by the Peekskill Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
On Sept. 23, Milton Ramos, 43, of Peekskill, was charged with third degree robbery, a felony. Ramos is accused of entering a parked vehicle at the Stop and Shop Supermarket in the Beach Shopping Center. A 77-year-old man was in the car waiting for his wife to come out of the store.
When the wife came out of the store, she found Ramos in the back seat of the car. He then attempted to solicit money from the couple by telling a fictitious story about having a sick child. When the couple refused, Ramos became aggressive and threatened them, leading the couple to hand over approximately $15 in cash and some loose change.
Ramos, who has been the subject of frequent complaints of aggressive panhandling, was identified and charged with third degree robbery. He was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court without bail.
