Loose Dog, Speeding Tickets, False Alarm and More from the Cortlandt Blotter

Sunday, July 6 – 8:33 p.m. - A resident of Hollowbrook Lane reported to Westchester County Police that a relative had removed some items from her home. The ownership of the items is currently the subject of a civil lawsuit. The resident was advised to discuss the matter with her attorney and contact county police if further police action is needed.
Friday, July 4 – 1:02 p.m. – A resident of Southgate Drive reported that she found a small brown-and-white dog on her property. An officer secured the dog and contacted the town’s animal control officer.
Thursday, July 3 – 12:20 p.m. – Westchester County Police conducted speed enforcement along Maple Avenue. Three summonses were issued over the next hour.
8:43 p.m. – A woman reported to county police that she lost her wallet while shopping at the Cortlandt Town Center.
Wednesday, July 2 – 6:12 p.m. – A resident of Cross Road reported to county police that she may be the victim of identity theft. The resident reported to a patrol officer that it appears someone has opened several credit accounts in her name. The investigation was turned over to detectives.
Tuesday, July 1 – 1:54 p.m. – A security guard at the Con Edison-owned quarry in Verplanck reported that several youths were riding dirt bikes on the property. The youths were gone upon an officer’s arrival.
4:35 p.m. – A resident of Birchbrook Drive reported to Westchester County Police that someone damaged his mailbox and post while he was out during the day.
5:45 p.m. – Westchester County Police responded to an activated burglar alarm at a residence on Augusta Drive. The homeowner had set the alarm off in error.
