Lake Mohegan FD Open House Scheduled For Oct. 14

Residents can learn about fire safety. Free souvenirs, along with free hot dogs and drinks will be available.

To help educate the public about fire safety, Lake Mohegan firefighters will hold an open house on Sunday in honor of fire prevention week, which is held this year from Oct. 7 - 13.

Lake Mohegan Fire Department's open house is free to the public and will take place on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at their headquarters at 1975 East Main Street, on Route 6, in Mohegan Lake.

Events for the day will include tours of the firehouse, fire engine and ambulance tours, as well as demonstrations by the firefighters. Children could crawl through the smoke trailer to learn about escaping a house fire.

Literature on fire prevention and injury prevention will also be available, as well as membership information for anyone who is interested in joining the fire department.

Sparky the Fire Dog and Freddie the Fire Truck will make a special appearance for the children. Free souvenirs, along with free hot dogs and drinks will be available.
