Is Dead Body Found Near Bear Mountain Sang Ho Kim?

Written by Carisa Giardino.

Police could not immediately say if a dead body found Monday morning near Bear Mountain Bridge in Stony Point is Sang Ho Kim, the man who's been on the run ever since he opened fire inside a Long Island office building Sept. 25, according to a Newsday report.

Kim worked as a vendor for Savenergy, a lighting fixture company. Police say Kim, angry over a business deal gone bad, killed one employee and seriously injured the company's CEO before fleeing the scene. Zachariah Yong Jae Shin, 25, of Whitestone, Queens succumbed to his injuries. The second victim, John Hyng Choi underwent surgery at Nassau University Medical Center.

Police had reason to believe Kim was hiding out in Putnam County after his white Honda Pilot was discovered in Cold Spring.

A passerby walking in the area early Monday notified police after seeing the body, which had apparently washed ashore on Iona Island, just south of the Bear Mountain Bridge in Rockland County.

Nassau police are heading to the scene in Stony Point, according to the Newsday report.
