Elderly Man Jumps from Bear Mountain Bridge: Police

The New York State Police from Troop K responded to the Bear Mountain Bridge at about 8 p.m. June 15 to investigate the report of an elderly man who was observed jumping from the westbound bridge span.  

Police continue to search the area for the victim with the assistance of State Police Aviation, the State Police Scuba Team, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, West Point Fire Department, Stony Point Fire Department, the Continental Village Fire Department, and the Westchester County Marine patrol. Additional help came from: Yorktown Heights FD Dive Team, Garrison Fire Department, Peekskill Ambulance, Cortlandt Paramedics, Peekskill Police, Fort Montgomery FD.
 
At this time, state police are continuing the investigation.  More details may be provided as the information becomes available.
