Cortlandt Troopers: 2 Teens Charged in Fire, Arson Probe Continues

A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, both from Cortlandt Manor, are facing misdemeanor charges in connection with a fire in the skating area at the Community Center, state police said.

Members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at the Cortlandt barracks made the arrests Wednesday.

"Both men were charged with criminal mischief third-degree after the investigation revealed they started a fire on Oct. 29 in the skating area at the Community Center on Westbrook Drive," authorities said. "The fire resulted in a response from the fire department and over $1,000 in damage."

Officials are continuing their investigation of fires that were set at the Community Center Oct. 3 and Oct. 30. Anyone with pertinent information is asked to contact Investigator Gleason at 914-788-8044.

The teens were released pending a Nov. 15 appearance in Cortlandt Justice Court.
