Cortlandt Man Facing Criminal Trespass Charge

A 50-year-old Cortlandt man is facing a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass after he attempting to enter a Putnam Valley apartment, according to authorities.

State troopers from the Wappinger barracks responded at about 4:45 p.m. Oct. 10 to a Putnam County 911 call reporting that an individual unlawfully gained access into a residence, officials said in a statement released Thursday.

"The victim reported to 911 that she woke up to a man attempting to gain entry into her residence," police said. "She observed the suspect ... open the door to her apartment and flee once he realized that she was home. The suspect is known by the victim."

Police arrested the man Thursday on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree criminal trespass. He was arraigned and released pending a future appearance in court.
