Buchanan Woman Charged with Using Stolen Debit Card

Joan Smith, 23, of Buchanan, is scheduled to appear in Cortlandt town court later this month after she allegedly stole her sister's debit card and used it to make unauthorized cash withdrawals.

 

A 23-year-old Buchanan woman is scheduled to appear in Cortlandt town court next week after she allegedly stole her sister’s debit card and made more than $3,000 in unauthorized withdrawals.

State police arrested Joan Smith, 23, of Buchanan, on Sept. 13 and charged her with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, after she allegedly stole the card and made $3,500 worth of cash withdrawals during the months of June, July and August.

Smith was arraigned and released to reappear in Cortlandt town court on Sept. 28.
