This week campers received a visit from Brian Robinson of Wildlife Lectures. Brian was accompanied by many of his " friends" and the campers were duly impressed. The raptors and reptiles brought out an emotional response from most of us at the Paramount. Some "oohed" when they saw the big vulture and some "yiked", but everyone learned something and we all had a memorable day.

A recent study actually shows that the highest homicide rates are in the states with the fewest gun controls. States like Louisiana, South Carolina, Mississippi and Alaska just to name a few.
Sure, there are fewer homicides in Alaska than in New York, but adjusted for population, the per-ca-pita homicide rate is significantly lower in New York.
