Our three oldest groups (ages 8-11) made it down to the Ansville Circle yesterday for a great day of kayaking on the Hudson. Janice and the staff of Atlantic Kayak Company were extremely helpful and supportive. While most of our campers were excited to get out on the water, some campers were reluctant, and others down right anxious. Once they hit the water though, everyone had a good time. After facing the challenges of kayaking, some campers left feeling more confident, some more proud, and all left happy.

A recent study actually shows that the highest homicide rates are in the states with the fewest gun controls. States like Louisiana, South Carolina, Mississippi and Alaska just to name a few.
Sure, there are fewer homicides in Alaska than in New York, but adjusted for population, the per-ca-pita homicide rate is significantly lower in New York.
