Coach Lou Panzanaro Honored at Final Game

After 30+ years of being a sideline staple at basketball games, Peekskill’s Coach Lou Panzanaro coached his final game of his career on Friday night. Panzanaro walked out of the gym that evening adding one more victory to his career, as the Peekskill’s Boys’ Varsity Basketball team took on and overcame Putnam Valley with a final score of 71-59.

At the game, Peekskill Mayor Frank Catelina presented Panzanaro with a Proclamation which recognized the beloved coach, “for guiding Peekskill’s teams to sectional championships, federation championships and New York State championships too numerous to mention.” Catelina also declared February 7, “Coach Lou Panzanaro Day” in the City of Peekskill.

“To all of my great supporters and fans, my family, the players, the great assistant coaches- I thank everyone for it all,” Panzanaro said. “I have some very fond memories to carry with me throughout my life.”
