April is Autism Awareness Month. My column, It's The Little Things, which is also published on Patch.com, gives a glimpse into family life when one member of the family has an autistic spectrum disorder.
This month, several of the blogs here will be written by other family members to give different views into that family life. I will also post links to some other blogs that give other looks into family life.
One of the difficulties of autistic spectrum disorders is the concept of spectrum. No two families are actually experiencing the same thing. Most of us can understand many of the challenges the others have because many symptoms are the same. The differences though can be seen just as quickly as you read other posts.
Also, you can also see how famiies cope as they adjust to all that comes with an autistic spectrum disorder. It takes time to learn how to navigate the maze of treatments, doctors, medicines and more.
