Peekskill, Westchester's Drug Zombie Hell

I have just watched News 12s Tara Rosenblum's "investigative report on Herion use in Westchester. She took a ride with officer Bazzo, under cover detective who stated she should duck her head, because it might get blown off. He also stated that every car he stops has drugs in it. During the car ride a man exited one of the "plethora" of drug houses, was stopped by officer Basso who promptly discovered hideous drug paraphernalia in his car consisting of a rubber band and a straw. The drive continued to point out the drug dealing and drug using hot spot at the A&P, and it was pointed out that our senior housing is a hot spot for drugs (in this economy i guess you must do what you  have to - believe me its not just the grand kids manipulating their elders).
i am in no way in favor of hard drug use such as heroin, coke or alcohol, but I am old enough to remember the first big hard drug scare back in the early 1970s, then again in the mid to late 1990s. They were just as bad and screwed up many  and many died.  The war on drugs will never be won as officer Bazzo said "playing cat and mouse." Cops are not doctors or physicist, they have a tunnal vision view of the problem.
There is too much money out there, from the suppliers, dealers, all the cop jobs, all the prison jobs, all the suppliers to the above, its a multi billion dollar industry. Unless the profit motive is taken away from this industry it will continue to destroy lives.
As for what this report has done for Peekskill; if I was looking for a place to move it wouldn't be here. The Police department shouldn't freelance (although I don't doubt with good intent) to give their department PR. It would have been much better to talk to the mayor and other groups who are trying to improve the cities already tarnished image. News 12 is looking for sensationalism and Tara is looking for a Local Shemmy.
