A group of eight strong-willed people from “Positive Directions for Peekskill” were at the Peekskill Train Station from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. to get the word out about the proposed methadone clinic at 3 Corporate Dr. in Peekskill
We were joined by Kim Izzarelli, Republican candidate for the 95th state Assembly District, who has given us so much useful advice. said Wendy Kelly. We are opposed to the proposed methadone clinic and feel it is better suited in a controlled environment with medical professionals and services at Hudson Valley Hospital Center.
We gathered an additional 100 signatures and that brought our total to more than 1,000. Many commuters had recently heard about the new clinic on the news and were eager to sign the petition to voice their opposition
The general census is everyone loves Peekskill, but will not tolerate the clinic being moved from Hudson Valley Hospital Center.
One Bronx resident said I came here to get away from all this he and his wife will move once again should this be approved by The Planning Commission on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at Peekskill City Hall.
Another said his brother is a heroin addict and, trust me ,methadone does not work he remains an addict.
One lady said she wanted her husband to sign as well, she called him from the train and he returned to sign.
Thanks to the Dunkin’ Donuts in Peekskill and Shop Rite in Cortlandt Manor for your breakfast donations. It was enjoyed by all!
