Council woman McKenzie threatens Peekskill citizen with violence.

In a recent exchange between city council woman Vivian McKenzie and a long time citizen of Peekskill, a not so veiled threat of possible violence was hurled by McKenzie at the citizen. McKenzie who's husband has been incarcerated on a drug dealing conviction will be out of prison in a matter of weeks. The exchange went as follows:

Citizen, "He'll be out in October"?

Mayor Catalina, "I'm not going to speak over everybody".

Mckenzie, "Actually next weekend, you'll be handled".

It's clear that Council woman McKenzie not only does not respect the oath of her office but has little respect for those who question her on the performance of her duties. This behavior is unacceptable and should outrage the citizens of Peekskill. In any other city Ms McKenzie would be forced to offer her resignation for this offense. However in Peekskill this offense has gone largely unnoticed, it it forces one to ponder who to go to for relief.

It has been clear for sometime now that the ethics board has been corrupted by a partisan agenda. Still and all the question remains: Is this an ethics question or a question of criminality?

Ms McKenzie has denied making the threat, but to no avail it was caught on cameras stationed in the meeting room and is attached to this story. Mayor Catalina ran on a platform for progress, but how can progress take place with the low level of integrity that Ms McKenzie and others on the common council embody.

This is an issue that Mayor Catalina and the rest of the common council need to act on in order to preserve their own credibility as public servants.
